SJP in Theysken’s Theory. Yay or Nay?

Sarah Jessica Parker has never been know to shy away from a bold fashion statement. It’s what her Sex and the City character, Carrie Bradshaw was centred around. However this sleek, lengthy number she wore on Sunday night to an event at the 34th Kennedy Honours Centre has caused quite the debate. Does it drown her petite 5 foot frame or is it genius, tying in with the equally as smooth, shiny and within an inch of its life controlled up do.

 Sarah Jessica Parker

The Theysken’s Theory, Damad dress in question, is made from 100% satin organza and costs just over the £1000 mark. Theysken’s theory being a relatively new venture for Oliver Theysken and newly collaborating Andrew Rosen original co-Ceo of the Theory brand. The two got together last year and since then it has been unique, ultra modern aesthetics all the way.

She revelled to Stella magazine that she finds negative comments about her appearance “hurtful” but went on to say “If those physical things were my insecurities I’d be thrilled. What wonderful problems.” Going on to tell how her family is the thing she worries about most.

Two polar opposite ends of the spectrum of Christmas cheer,  Harvey Nic depicts Christmas as a hungover, blurry unkempt mess of mornings after the nights before. Versus John Lewis’ take as a warm, fuzzy, family friendly haven.

Equally brilliant though. Admit it, we have all been there.

I’ve been incredibly and shamefully neglectful of great, heart rendering, finely tuned music as of late.

Non intentional of course, it’s simply due to an ever increasing drain on my free time largely though uni, slaving for minimum wage at work, as well as the more pleasurable pursuit of interior designing on a shoe string at Springhill Manor.

But this little beauty fell into my lap this afternoon, during the 100th (OK perhaps a slight exaggeration there) tea & YouTube break from NCTJ revision. Emily and the Woods is a friend of, been on tour with and not unlike, Laura Marling. Graduated from Exeter univsersity and hailing from London she is a folk like fairy with the faint voice to match. Easily listening at its finest, Emily has been writing since age 12 and even found song writing useful as a mean to helping her with uni work and revision. Fear not I shan’t dare to attempt this.

Coming from a wholly creative family, her dad and brother are both musical aids and influences and with an art therapist for a mother, Emily was always destined for innovative greatness.

I genuinely can’t believe I am only hearing of Emily and the Woods now but it certainly has dusted off the old cobwebs and wet my appetite for more. Have a listen here, it will chill you right out if not melt you into a gooey smiley mess.

Every year I impatiently wait for the John Lewis Christmas ad, when it arrives the official countdown to Christmas can begin.

This year, as with every other, it didn’t disappoint.
